The Countdown Begins

It's high time to dust off the old blog and begin again. I can hardly believe it's been three years since our last visit to Shanghai. Several times over the last six years we were geared to move and excited, to boot. It was to be a family affair and a wonderful chance to immerse ourselves in a foreign culture. But it doesn't feel the same now.........

David and Garreth left about 10 days ago. Molly and I are packed to go but remained behind due to her full schedule of golf tournaments. She and Garreth will have such tremendous educational opportunities there that I can only encourage them to go, even as my heart breaks.

I'll settle Mo and G in over the next three weeks and then return home. That will be the hardest trip of all. How do I leave two children on a continent half a world away. How do I leave the two remaining here?

It was supposed to be a family affair.
